Andreas Ackerup × 5475
Using an analog camera with 135 mm film, photographer Andreas Ackerup has taken one self-portrait every day since 1998, each neatly catalogued and digitized. In this collaboration project, facial recognition algorithms and custom built image processing software were employed to find new ways of looking at 15 years worth of self-portraits – 5475 images to be exact – from the years 1998-2013.
15 year mosaic – All 5475 unprocessed images from 1998 to 2013 (and one black rectangle) arranged on a 74×74 grid to resemble a selected self-portrait. Serendipity: 74×74=5475+1.
15 year mosaic – Zooming out from a detail view.
15 year gaze – A timelapse of self-portraits aligned to maintain the position of the eyes.
15 year average I – The mean color per pixel over the 5475 self-portraits.
15 year average II – The mean color per pixel over the 5475 self-portraits aligned to maintain the position of the eyes.
